Ok, so less than a month to go before we head for sunnier skies and flatter roads (has anyone looked at the topography around Bordeaux?).
We're planning a final training cycle ride this Saturday across the North Downs, taking Box Hill, Leith Hill and Newlands Corner!
This is the route.
50 miles, so will need to carb-load a day (or preferably 2 or 3 days) before.
Girls, if you're reading this, make your men eat something sensible!
My bike has been rebuilt, but has a tendency for the chain to slip when going up hills! This could be a problem.
Ordered my soft cycle bag, and a shiny new bell which has written on it "required by law", which although not the case here, is in some European countries, such as Denmark and Germany!
Ah, Google maps has a topography option. Here's Bordeaux in topography mode. Looks ok for the two days out West but to the East looks a bit more hilly... we should be warmed up (and wined up!) by then, so not a problem.
